Carlos Tévez is a relative newcomer to United. In the closing stages of the transfer market in this year, there was a great excitement amongst United fans, the same sort of excitement one got when they heard that Cantona or Cole had signed. Unexpected but great news!

With our current injury problems, Tévez has had to be introduced earlier than expected and is still settling in.

However, he has already produced a few moments of magic and you can see more from his career to date below.

Teddy Sheringham, although having a relatively short career at United, made a huge impact in our success running up to and including the ‘99 peak.

Despite Andy Cole hating Teddy and not talking to him after a bust-up, they formed a devastating partnership.

Teddy was well known for defying his years and playing graceful and intelligent football even though he had no pace.

He will be best remembered for his treble-saving goal at the Nou Camp in injury time in 1999 in the Champions League final. The rest, as they say, is history!

Steve Bruce was born in Northumberland and formed part of what some people say is still United’s greatest ever centre-half pairing with Gary Pallister.

At 6 foot 2, he looked fairly short as a centre half, but more than made up for it with his steely grit and bravery.

He has since gone into management and took Birmingham City up into the Premiership.

Paul McGrath was a well known character at United when Fergie arrived and had to do some serious spring cleaning. Even Keano used to drink a lot with McGrath and Whiteside but was young enough to get out of that rut.

Like his mate, Whiteside, his career was blighted by his alcoholism and he had 8 knee ops.

He did have a pretty decent stint at Villa though after Fergie had offloaded him.

Another no-nonsense, no-bullsh*t player of a different era - there are few like McGrath in today’s football.

Norman Whiteside was a tough player from Northern Island.

Originally, he was a forward but played his latter years in the midfield position, helped a great deal by his physical presence on the pitch.

He is well known for debuting at both club and country level at the meagre age of 17.

Sadly his career was blighted by a knee injury in the era before even the worst cruciate could be saved by a skilled surgeon, and he retired at the age of 26.

He was also a well known drinking buddy of Paul McGrath!
